Sometimes important emails end up in the Spam or Junk folder by mistake. Gmail and Outlook allow you to make sure emails reach your inbox, while still protecting you from dangerous content like viruses or phishing.

Gmail

You can create a filter that tells Gmail never to send emails to Spam.

Steps:

  1. Open Gmail.
  2. Click the settings gear icon in the top right and select See All Settings.
  3. Go to the Filters and Blocked Addresses tab.
  4. Click Create a new filter.
  5. Leave all fields blank (this applies the filter to every email).
  6. Click Create filter.
  7. Check the box for Never send it to Spam.
  8. Click Create filter again to save.

From now on, all emails will arrive in your inbox unless Gmail detects malware or phishing. These harmful messages are always blocked automatically.

Important to know:

  • Gmail’s security cannot be turned off.
  • Emails with malicious attachments or links will never be delivered, even with this filter.

Outlook

You can add trusted senders to a Safe List so their emails never go to Junk.

In Outlook Web (Outlook.com):

  1. Click the settings gear icon.
  2. Go to Mail > Junk Email.
  3. Add trusted email addresses or domains under Safe Senders and Domains.
  4. Save your changes.

In the Outlook Desktop app:

  1. Open Outlook and go to the Home tab.
  2. Select Junk > Junk Email Options.
  3. Choose one of these settings:
  4. No Automatic Filtering – All emails go to your inbox unless blocked.
  5. Safe Lists Only – Only emails from your Safe Senders list are delivered.

Outlook still scans every email for malware and phishing. Truly harmful messages are always blocked.

Tip: Add your company’s domain or trusted senders to the Safe List to make sure their messages always arrive. But be cautious with attachments or links from unexpected emails.
